Harajuku, Mapped in White: Nike and atmos Turn the Air Force 1 '01 Into a Street-Level Love Letter

Some sneakers shout. This one draws you in close. Nike and Tokyo retailer atmos have unveiled the Nike Air Force 1 '01 "Harajuku," a custom creation made to celebrate atmoscon, and it trades loud graphics for something far more intimate: a map of the neighborhood that shaped the store.
The pair was first shared by atmos creative director Hirofumi Kojima, and its timing carries weight. It lands a decade after atmos introduced a 50-pair pack at the very first atmoscon in 2016, making this a milestone moment as much as a new release.
The canvas is the reintroduced '01 version of the Air Force 1, a vintage-leaning shape that has already served recent collaborative projects with Nigo and Steven Victor. Here, the upper is clad in white leather and etched with laser-cut cartography tracing the streets of Harajuku. The map sweeps across the toe and heel overlays, while wide stretches of smooth, untouched leather are left exposed so the detailing can breathe. Everything else stays disciplined: the Swooshes, eyelets, laces and sole unit all keep a clean "Triple White" finish.
The concept also speaks to what came before. The 2016 atmoscon edition carried "TYO" and "NYC" block lettering, a nod to the retailer's former bicoastal footprint. This time, atmos looks inward, choosing topographic detail to root the shoe firmly in its home neighborhood.
The Nike Air Force 1 '01 "Harajuku" will be on show at the Nike booth during atmoscon in Tokyo this weekend. Wider release details have not been confirmed, so keep an eye out for further word on whether the pair will reach beyond the convention floor.
