STAFFONLY has officially released its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, "No Duty to Be Cute." Using the daily routine of a zookeeper as a starting point, the collection draws a parallel between the selective domestication of animals based on human aesthetic standards and the identity discipline found in modern workplaces, exploring how individuals gradually lose their unique traits while adapting to societal rules.
This season draws inspiration from zookeeper uniforms, reinterpreting daily workwear through deconstructed tailoring, twisted structures, and fabric treatments. Repeatedly rolled-up cuffs are transformed into wavy pleats and dense gathers, while the shirt placket, tie, and bodice break the rigid structure of traditional uniforms through asymmetrical design. Some pieces also incorporate moldable metal wire, laser cutting, and multi-layered collars and cuffs, simulating the deformation of clothing caused by long-term wear and external forces. Washed distressed finishes and abstract animal camouflage patterns further enrich the collection's visual layers.
The runway show continued this theme, designed to simulate a workplace hiring casting. Models appeared sequentially with different gaits, completing turns, positioning, and other actions on command, gradually forming a unified behavioral pattern. Subsequently, the models changed into standardized professional uniforms and black-framed glasses, lying down in white positioning grids according to their numbers. When they finally left, only neatly arranged work boxes and identity tags remained, illustrating how individuals are shaped by institutionalized work roles.
In addition, STAFFONLY teamed up with Corona this season to launch the "Workation" collaborative project. Inspired by the fully open-top can design, the collection features interactive T-shirts printed with hidden "OFF DUTY" text, paper straw pull-tab hats, portable flask bags, and luggage tags, integrating the concepts of clocking out and vacationing into everyday accessories.
