British fashion brand Nigel Cabourn and leading Japanese outdoor brand NANGA have unveiled a collaboration inspired by early M-65 liners.
Based on the vintage military details that Nigel has championed for years, this collection reinterprets the layering system adopted by the US Army in the 1960s. Incorporating the cross-wave quilting seen on early M-65s, the pieces honor the original design while updating materials and specifications for modern wear.

During development, the team faced the challenge of evenly distributing feathers within the unique quilt shape. To solve this, they utilized MAGICSDOWN, a special padding material not typically used by NANGA. Thanks to its sheet-like structure, this material prevents the filling from shifting, combining the warmth of natural down with the water-repellent and quick-drying properties of synthetic insulation. Furthermore, by keeping excess volume in check, the design ensures ease of movement and effortless layering.
The lineup features a liner jacket modified to be worn on its own with the front closed, alongside pieces combining cross-wave quilting with side stripe details, and a down cap equipped with removable ear flaps. The collection will be available in green and black.
The NANGA x Nigel Cabourn collaborative collection launches on Saturday, October 17, at directly managed Nigel Cabourn stores and the official OUTER LIMITS online store. Prices are set at 88,000 yen for the main jacket, 69,300 yen for the secondary jacket style, and 19,800 yen for the down cap (all prices include tax).
