Maison Margiela has officially unveiled a new chapter of MaisonMargiela/folders, celebrating 20 years at its foundational Tokyo boutique located at 2-8-13 Ebisu Minami.

In September 2000, 12 years into the house's history, the brand opened its first-ever standalone store not in Paris or Belgium, but in a traditional residential home in the Tokyo suburb of Ebisu at 3-3-3 Ebisu Minami. When required to relocate in 2006, the label avoided commercial strips and instead deepened its commitment to the neighborhood by acquiring a former electrical products factory just five minutes away at 2-8-13 Ebisu Minami. Retaining team members who have worked at the location since its inception, the space has served as the physical anchor for the brand's identity and creative milestones in Japan for the past two decades.

Titled "Maison Margiela Tokyo: 20 Years at 2-8-13," the documentation project records oral histories from staff, investigates the district's creative landscape, and spotlights the local community of Tabi collectors. Alongside the historical survey, the initiative documents "Line 2: Unravelled Memory, Rewoven Future," which captures a cross-cultural collaboration between Japanese artist Mio Suzuki and French tapestry fabricators Les Manufactures Nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier National.

The initial archive preview is accessible now via the Maison Margiela website, while the physical limited-edition ZINE will distribute across Ebisu on November 5 alongside the Line 2 installation, which remains on view in-store through November 15.
