Engineered Garments x BEAMS PLUS have unveiled the PEG Trench Coat, a new outerwear piece developed exclusively for their collaborative line. Rather than adapting an existing Engineered Garments style, the design team drafted the coat from the ground up, using the original military trench as the reference point for its utilitarian build.

The construction draws directly from the trench’s roots as a functional field garment, translating that workwear logic into a pattern made specifically for PEG. Engineered Garments’ hallmark approach to storage shows up across the body in a dense, multi-pocket arrangement, backed by the kind of layered, intricate detailing the brand is known for. A subtler touch hides under the collar, where the PEG stencil logo sits out of view until the collar is flipped up.

Fabric does much of the heavy lifting on this release. The main body is cut from a cotton-polyester gabardine with an iridescent quality, so the surface reads differently depending on the angle and lighting, moving between brighter highlights and deeper shaded tones as the wearer moves. That tightly woven gabardine also keeps the coat in line with the hard-wearing cloth associated with the trench archetype.

The fit leans generous, with a roomy, relaxed silhouette that follows the proportions of a traditional overcoat rather than a slim, tailored trench. The result has enough volume to layer over knitwear or tailoring through the colder months, while the sheen of the fabric pulls the military-born design toward a dressier register.

The PEG Trench Coat drops October 17 at BEAMS PLUS Harajuku, Marunouchi and Osaka, BEAMS MEN Shibuya, BEAMS LIFE Yokohama, BEAMS Tsujido, Nagoya and Kobe, and the BEAMS online shop.
