Converse Japan has unveiled the All Star Westernstitch SU HI, a pattern-reworked version of its signature high-top that blends western boot detailing with the brand’s updated renewal-spec construction. The shoe trades the classic canvas for a suede upper, steering the familiar silhouette toward ranch-ready territory while keeping its recognizable shape intact.

The design centers on decorative stitching drawn from western boots, which Converse pairs with star motifs that tie back to the All Star name. That ornamentation sits on a full suede upper, giving the sneaker the softer texture and heftier look of a boot rather than the lightweight feel of a canvas Chuck. A rubber outsole anchors the build, and the shoe arrives in two colorways, Tan and Black.

Beneath the western styling, the Westernstitch SU HI adopts Converse’s renewal spec, a substantial internal overhaul of the All Star platform. Open-cell urethane foam, chosen for its resistance to flattening along with its breathability and cushioning, now lines not only the insole but also the inside of the heel, boosting comfort with every step. The insole itself has been updated to be fully removable, a practical change for anyone who prefers custom footbeds.

Weight and fit get attention as well. The new construction trims about 60 grams per shoe compared with the previous version, measured on a single 26.5 cm pair, while a redesigned last and outsole improve fit and stability. A reworked outsole structure also adds flexibility, letting the shoe bend more naturally underfoot.
