Brain Dead and Crocs have unveiled a new collaboration spanning the Echo II and Trailbreak 2, built around a shared language of bold self-expression and subversive design.
The pairing debuted during an event in Paris' Le Marais district, timed to Paris Fashion Week and drawing creatives and tastemakers from across the city. The setting underscored the scope of the project: a collaboration positioned at the intersection of Brain Dead's experimental design language and Crocs' long-standing reputation for unapologetic, comfort-first footwear, with both brands pulling from a shared influence across fashion, art, music and design.
On the Echo II, the collaboration applies a custom graphic print alongside 3D snail Jibbitz charms and a custom silicone-printed strap, layered over the model's LiteRide comfort base. The Trailbreak 2 takes a different construction route, pairing a mesh upper with a footbed logo print, a translucent silicone overlay and a speckled rubber outsole. Its marbled EVA midsole marks new territory for the model, the first time the silhouette has carried marbling in its build.
That material choice traces back to a specific creative brief. Kyle Ng, the founder of Brain Dead, described drawing inspiration from the natural world around him. “Crocs is a brand I've always respected because it's for everyone,” he said in a statement. “I've always connected with footwear that's comfortable, functional, and can take you pretty much anywhere. The Echo II and Trailbreak 2 silhouettes stood out because they already felt a little weird in the best way. They have that classic Crocs DNA, but there's something more unexpected about them. The inspiration came from the nature that surrounds me, almost resembling a painting — moonlight reflecting on water, cool landscapes, wet rocks, snails, and organic textures. We wanted the shoes to feel familiar while shaped by nature."
The Brain Dead x Crocs Echo II arrives later this summer, with the Trailbreak 2 following in the fall.
