Summary
- A new teamLab permanent museum, Biovortex Kyoto, has opened in Japan
- It features over 50 immersive artworks, including a previously unexhibited piece
- The museum also offers educational projects and opportunities for co-creation
teamLab has opened the doors to its latest permanent art museum, Universe of Existence, Universe of Perception: teamLab Biovortex Kyoto, in the Minami-ku area. As part of the Kyoto Station Southeast Area Project, this expansive new space will span over 10,000 square meters, making it the largest exhibition by the art collective in Japan.
The museum will feature over 50 immersive artworks, offering a diverse and compelling experience. Among the highlights is "Massless Amorphous Sculpture," an artwork that has not been previously exhibited in Japan. This piece is based on the concept of "Environmental Phenomena," where the surrounding environment gives rise to the art itself.
Visitors can also explore newly unveiled installations, such as "Megaliths” and “Transient Abstract Life and Return," along with teamLab’s celebrated educational projects, including "Athletics Forest" and "Future Park." "Athletics Forest" offers a physically challenging, multi-dimensional, and creative space where time shifts with the presence of your body, while "Future Park" is an engaging and collaborative area designed for co-creation. The museum also features Sketch Factory, where visitors can transform their drawings from Graffiti Nature and Sketch Ocean into custom products, such as badges, magnets, puzzles, hand towels, T-shirts, tote bags, or papercrafts, to take home.
Through this project, teamLab aims to support Kyoto City's vision for urban development in the Kyoto Station Southeast Area, centered on culture, art, and youth. The teamLab Biovortex Kyoto will be a creative hub for generating and disseminating new value. Tickets are now available on the official website.
